Wipro, a global technology, consulting and business process services company, also operating in Brazil, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ampion, a provider of cybersecurity solutions, DevOps and quality engineering services, based in Australia.
Wipro does not reveal the value of the deal and highlights that the purchase is subject to the usual closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The acquisition process is expected to be completed in the second quarter.
Ampion was formed from the merger of IT service providers Revolution IT and Shelde. Revolution was an IT services company founded in 2004 and Shelde was a provider of IT security solutions founded in 2010, both Australian.
In a joint statement, Wipro and Ampion point out that the merger of operations, driven by the transformation of engineering, DevOps and security consulting services, will bring scale and agility to respond to the growing demands of customers.
Wipro’s new operating model emphasizes strategic investments in geographic areas, proximity to customers, agility, scale and location. The note highlights that the acquisition of Ampion is an important step for Wipro in this direction and strengthens the commitment to customers.
“Ampion has a successful track record and enjoys immense credibility with leading companies in the Asia-Pacific region, with a culture of collaborative work and significant local expertise. We see Ampion as a complementary force that will help us expand our footprint and accelerate our journey, ”said NS Bala, CEO – APMEA at Wipro.
