Binance sues Brazilian for “stealing” domain Binance.com.br

A Brazilian purchased the domain www.binance.com.br in June 2018 and this year was sued by Chinese giant Binance. The decision was published this month by the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region.

The exchange arrived in Brazil about 4 months ago, being severely criticized by users for its high rates and weak support. Furthermore, she does not seem to have been happy with the discovery that a Brazilian would have tried to “steal” her name here in the country.

Registering domains that others may want in the future is a frowned upon practice as opportunism, where individuals generally buy these sites just to let them sell for a higher price in the future. It is a kind of land speculation from the digital age.

However, the largest brokerage firm in the world does not seem to have considered the idea of buying a domain with its name, and went to court to resolve it, where it won the right to the site.

The Binance Arguments

Operating in the market since 2017, the Chinese exchange has shown the enormous success it has achieved in a short time in the market, and its efforts to expand around the world.

In addition, Binance claimed that the defendant has been a client of the broker since December 2017, the date before the registration of the Brazilian domain.

Finally, the judge decided that the domain name should be suspended and that the defendant abstain from the BINANCE brand under penalty of a fine. And that was how the broker managed using the force of justice to get his name back, without paying a cent to the Brazilian.

Do you think Binance’s practice was fair? Do you believe that the exchange acted correctly with the Brazilian? Leave your opinion in the comments.
