Serpro sends backup to help STJ recover encrypted files

The Superior Court of Justice (STJ) continues to recover from the ransomware attack it suffered in early November. The Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro) reported on Friday (13) that sent information security professionals to help the STJ, which is in the “final phase” of data recovery.

“The information retrieval work is being carried out by the Court’s IT team. Serpro, as well as other public institutions, sympathetic to the moment faced by the STJ, made its cybersecurity team available to the Court, adding its expertise to other teams, and all of them to the STJ team, ”said Serpro in a press release.

The Hack newsroom contacted Serpro about this help, which replied that “this work [ajuda ao STJ] is being coordinated by the Digital Government Secretariat (SGD) of the Ministry of Economy. The objective is to contribute to reinforcing the government’s “cyber security”, with frequent diagnoses about invasion attempts, the adoption of good practices of security protocols and preventive measures to prevent government systems from being affected or compromised ” , informs.

The president of the STJ, Minister Humberto Martins said that the number of machines with remote access technology (RDS) on court. The objective is to improve performance in accessing the STJ systems.

“File servers are in your final stage of backup recovery. It also follows the work of restoring the backup of the Integration System server with the courts, which must be completed by the end of the day [15]. The action will allow until Wednesday (18) to be able to carry out the integration procedures of all courts with the STJ, for sending and receiving files ”, said the minister in a press release.

The minister also says that the court sends information daily to the Federal Police, which is working to identify those responsible for the ransomware who encrypted STJ data (and backups) since the date of the incident.

“As for the investigation into the perpetrators of the cyber attack suffered by the STJ, the sending of information to the Federal Police by the team of the Secretariat of Information and Communication Technology (STI) of the Court is daily, in a joint effort to reach criminals and hold them accountable . The investigation is under secrecy ”, concludes the minister.
