Security decision-makers seek AI-enabled solutions to help them, saying their organization is more likely to consider a solution using AI.
According to the Security Priorities study by Foundry, a company controlled by IDG, understanding which security tools and solutions best-fit companies’ strategy is becoming an increasingly complex task for 75% of cybersecurity decision-makers. The number was 69% in 2023. Even with abundant tools, a third of organizations still don’t know the causes of security incidents in the last 12 months.
At the same time, they are also seeking AI-enabled solutions to help them navigate this complexity: 59% of security decision-makers say their organization is more likely to consider a security solution that uses AI, versus 52% in 2023. They are also researching and piloting a slate of new security technologies—from SOAR to deceiving and zero-trust technologies—that can increase your security tool count but also simplify and automate tasks.
The increasing complexity of security solutions comes at the same time as 72% of security decision makers say their responsibilities have grown beyond overseeing security technology tasks. These leaders are now asked to address cybersecurity strategy, risk management, AI-enabled technology protection, innovation and emerging technologies, security architecture, and technology upgrades. More than half (59%) are now responsible for issues outside their region or country.
The 2024 Security Priorities Study surveyed 870 IT executives, managers and security professionals from around the world to better understand the current security projects organizations are focused on today and in the coming year. The research also analyzed the role of security within businesses and the growing involvement of security leaders with the Board of Directors.
