Researcher who hacked Donald Trump’s Twitter will not be punished

The security researcher who went on Twitter to former U.S. President Donald Trump during preparations for the election, will not be punished. According to Dutch prosecutors, Victor Gevers, was acting ethically. Information is from the BBC.

Victor Gevers logged on to Trump’s Twitter account on October 22, 2020 and posted screenshots on his social network. Gevers managed to get on the ex-president’s Twitter by guessing his password, which was “MAGA2020!”, an abbreviation for Make America Great Again 2020!

In season, the White House, U.S. presidential residence and office, denied the case. The Twitter said he didn’t have enough evidence. “We saw no evidence to support this claim, including the article published in the Netherlands today. We have proactively implemented account security measures for a designated group of high-level people related to the elections Twitter accounts in the United States, including branches of the federal government, “said Twitter on the pipe at the time.

Gevers says he is satisfied with the decision. “It is not just my job, but all the volunteers looking for vulnerabilities on the internet,” he said.

According to the BBC, the security researcher was conducting a routine scan of the Twitter accounts of important US election candidates. On October 16, Gevers would have guessed Donald Trump’s Twitter password. At that time, Gevers approached the Dutch police and explained the case. The police forwarded the information to the US authorities.
