That is very soon
Rumours surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 have been rife over this past year and they show no signs of slowing down thanks to another report courtesy of Nintendo Prime.
It has been seven years since the Nintendo Switch burst onto the scene. And it is safe to say that Nintendo’s latest handheld has been one of its most popular yet.
Praised for its functionality and library of exciting exclusives, the first Switch has aided us well. But all good things come to an end and it seems as though it is about to be replaced by its successor.
However, when we will actually see the Nintendo Switch 2 remains something of a mystery.
Or is it?
According to a recent discovery by Nintendo Prime, after finding the rumour shared in Weibo. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially announced in January 2025 before releasing to the public in March 2025.
It is worth noting that this rumour has been machine-translated from Chinese. And it has not officially been translated but Nintendo Prime is pretty adamant about its findings.
The translation also goes on to reveal that there are already shipments of the handheld in various regions. And they come in at around 650,000 units.
If we compare this with the number of units of the Nintendo Switch back in 2017 which was 2,740,000. This is quite a significant difference.
Last but not least, the rumour ends with a claim about the Switch 2’s components.
Components have already been made “in the hundreds of thousands since September”. And the successor console’s T239 SOC has been shipped in large quantities.
As mentioned, it is worth taking this news with a pinch of salt due to it being a rumour that has been machine-translated.
However, if it does happen to be true, that means we will need to start saving now if we want to get our hands on the Nintendo Switch successor.
